I'm very lucky to have a ten second commute to my workshop here in County Kerry. Surrounded by mountains and fields my studio is situated overlooking beautiful Ballinskelligs Bay and is just 1km off the Wild Atlantic Way coastal drive.
My hand built and wheel thrown work is inspired by this coastal and rural landscape, its changing light and colours. My method of working starts with taking photographs and making sketches of the landscape. With these to hand, I form the shape of my vases or bowls and then use coloured slips and underglazes to paint the images onto the greenware. Some pieces are then bisque fired and then further decoration is applied.
As well as loving the creative process, I also enjoy meeting any visitors to the studio for a chat. During the summer months I meet people from all over the world, and it's a real pleasure when they choose a piece of my work to bring back to their home as a present.
Classes Classes are held throughout the summer and other holidays. I teach classes for children, adults and groups. If you would like a go at throwing on the wheel or making a piece to take home, please view my Classes page for more details.
